Too often students leave upper level workshops excited about the new material learned, only to find difficulties implementing their new knowledge into their existing practices. This two-day workshop will provide you with the skills to smoothly integrate your specific deep tissue and myofascial release skills into a fluid full body massage, and will be a great refresher if you feel you need some review.
This seminar is designed for therapists who have attended previous deep tissue training and are accomplished with skills of working with layers of the body, proper body mechanics, use of different tools such as knuckles and elbows, and the protocols for working on all of the specific segments of the body.
You will learn:
Communication skills to educate your clients on the advantages of deep tissue massage and myofascial release to deal in detail with specific areas of their bodies that need extra attention while still performing a full body massage instead of spot work.
Evaluation techniques and session planning for a smooth and integrated massage to leave your clients feeling the benefits of deep work while still being integrated
Clear, anatomical and physiological protocols to connect all parts of the body into a fluid massage style
Draping suggestions to utilize different body positioning options
Options for tying together the massage to leave your clients feeling relaxed and energised
If it has been a while since you have taken your deep tissue training, this will be a great opportunity to hone your skills with plenty of time to work, get some great bodywork yourself, and to add clarity to your work that will energise your practice |

PIM- SAVE YOUR THUMBS!
Physiotherapy Instrument Mobilisation (PIM) will increase your clinical effectiveness and add a new dimension to your manual expertise. Innovative methods of using these devices have been developed consistent with orthodox articular physiotherapy paradigms, primarily Nordic concave-convex, Combined Movements, Osteopathic upslope/downslope treatment planes and Brian Mulligan’s concepts of Mobilisation with Movement and Positional faults. This concept is completely free from chiropractic philosophy and rationale for the use of mechanical adjusting instruments.
As over 150 Australian physiotherapists have found, these are excellent techniques for the TMJ, SIJ, cervical, radicular pain, A-C, carpal and tarsal joint mobs and much more. An effective substitute for many mobilising & manipulative procedures.
Learn how to use these evidence-based techniques to enhance your clinical outcomes and safety with greater efficiency. Course includes Physiotherapy Impact Mobiliser worth £190, course notes and refreshments.
The lecturer is Tim Mann, APA-titled Musculoskeletal (Manipulative) Physiotherapist and accredited Mulligan Concept Teacher with over 25 years of experience with Instrument Mobilising.
Register soon to secure your place. For further information and registration details please email;

Comments from previous course participants;
Hi Tim, I am the physio that works with S** in his practice and completed your Perth course. I just wanted to let you know that I have had amazing results using the PIM device not only with my cervical patients but also with my vertigo patients. A lot of clients that come to see me for dizziness etc I have been treating C1 and most of their symptoms are resolved!! Patients who have had double vision for 2 years and told it was a result of their stroke, have now got clear vision and can watch TV again!! Thanks again and look forward to doing the lower limb course with you soon. Kind RegardsT*
Hi Tim, Thanks again for the PIM course and sharing your knowledge and experience with us. I am quite excited with the results I have been getting and the receptiveness from most of my patients. One patient I have been treating on and off for many years, but her recent episode of upper cervical pain had been very slow to improve with 10 treatments over 6 weeks. I knew it was mostly C0-C1 origin, but the usual mobs were only giving slight improvement. She continued to have a feeling of tightness with neck rotation, which was about 70 degrees in each direction and her pain would shift from left to right to central over C1. When I saw her Monday after the course I went straight for the atlas with the PIM before doing anything else and neither of us could believe the instant improvement with full range rotation in each direction.”
“Tim, I had a new patient present that day who had been given a pethidine shot a couple days prior for the severity of her neck pain and she had needed to lay down all weekend. She only had slight restriction to rotation left but a constant pain over the left Cx-Tx junction area, with the pain extending to her left occiput. There seemed no obvious cause for the sudden onset and no history of neck problems, but her asthma had been bad, so she had been doing a lot of accessory breathing. I treated the atlas which was lateral to the left, T1 & T2 which were rotated left and 1st & 2nd ribs, all using the PIM. When I saw her 2 days later, she was laughing and smiling and so amazed with the improvement. She said when she saw her Doctor the next day at work (I didn’t realise she was actually the nurse who worked for this doctor) she said “I could give you a big hug for sending me to that woman!” and he told her to go ahead. This particular Doctor used to be a Physio and often gets his patients who normally have chiropractic treatment to go to me instead”.
"Evidence-based, great clinical reasoning and appropriateness of treatment modalities using sound biomechanical principles (no voodoo explanations!)"
"Finally someone prepared to bridge the gap between physio and chiro/osteo in terms of treatment tools, in fact brilliantly combined use of tool with physiotherapy paradigm, well done!"
"Fun and informative, the material was very easy to understand"
"Excellent new treatment option, the gun will definitely enhance my techniques and save my hands"
"Very innovative, I don't know why it hasn't been developed before"
"So well prepared, enjoyed a course with good valid studies to back up techniques"
"Theory and practical so relevant, the whole concept is interesting and exciting"
"Thanks for the ongoing teaching. I have treated two clients this week with lateral to medial IM with good results, one was a colleague, and another a PT student."
"Hi Tim having great results with PIM. Lady with headaches and c01 restriction rx with IM anterior mobilization and the lady came back requesting the "gun"."
"Some big improvements in ranges of motion over a treatment..."of course". PIM is a great addition to physiotherapy without a doubt."
"In the last week, 3 miracles, 1 flare up and a lot of useful outcomes - enjoying using the pim - please book me in for next March"

A 2 day course designed to help you understand the cause of injury, and how to prevent problems from developing again. Most sports injuries are accumulative in nature, but what are the mechanisms that have contributed to the onset?
What biomechanical factors are involved and how can we assess these efficiently to best help our clients, eg what is the effect of a restricted ankle joint on the rest of the body?
A range of therapists, such as massage therapists, sports therapists, and pilates teachers are being consulted more and more by athletes and the recreational athlete. Now is the time to improve your understanding of assessment, prevention, and how to develop an effective treatment plan.
Do you want to learn in an environment where there are only 6 participants over the weekend - excellent 1:1 time for questions and supervision. |

PROGRAMME: Our course goal will be to share with you how normal day-to-day function is changed by interference with the fascial and connective tissue anatomy. By understanding how various systems interlink to determine function, we can explore new and integrated treatment strategies as a tool in relieving the distress of the painful upper limb
After these two-day workshops, participants should have a clearer understanding of:
- The functional anatomy and biomechanics of the shoulder girdle
- The structure of connective tissue, its classification, and its role in normal musculo-skeletal function
- How this system is damaged by trauma, surgery, overuse, or habit, and ultimately the body’s postural responses with functional adjustments leading to later complaints – even in non-related areas of the body
- How to evaluate the connective tissue/fascial system
- How all the above guides you, the therapist, through the most appropriate personalized treatment strategy for every individual client
Our courses will be an intense mix of theory and practical work, and, therefore, we limit the number of participants to maximum 18 per course.
Full details of elements and subjects covered during the course can be found at http://www.bodyworkcpd.co.uk/workshops/ctsshoulder.htm |

PROGRAMME: Our course goal will be to share with you how normal day-to-day function is changed by interference with the fascial and connective tissue anatomy. By understanding how various systems interlink to determine function, we can explore new and integrated treatment strategies as a tool in relieving the distress of the painful lower limb
Full details of elements and subjects covered during the course can be found at http://www.bodyworkcpd.co.uk/workshops/ctslowerlimb.htm |

This 1 day course provides an excellent introduction to the concept of and clinical use of non invasive ventilation or NIV. NIV is becoming popular within the healthcare environment and is more frequently encountered by allied health professionals. Physiotherapy and nursing staff are increasingly required to set up these systems and monitor their use. Key questions which need to be answered to assist in this include, how do we identify those suitable and what risks do we need to consider in the different patient groups?
Whether you are on call or work with NIV on a weekly basis and you require an introduction or a revision regarding this equipment and its use, this could be the course for you.
This course is ideal for final year student physiotherapists through to band 6 physiotherapists wanting a solid introduction to or a refresher on NIV. This course is also great for respiratory nurses, outreach team staff and those working in the community.

Most hip pain can be sub-grouped into a series of mechanical dysfunctions related to uncontrolled movement. Identify and retrain motor control issues relating to insidious, chronic and recurrent hip problems.
Course Outline
Mechanical dysfunctions of the hip commonly present as combinations of impingement, instability and rotational strain dysfunctions…all of which can develop into degenerative conditions. Motor control dysfunction within the hip local and global musculature contributes significantly to insidious onset, chronicity and recurrence of these hip problems. When symptoms are produced from mechanical dysfunctional in the regional tissues, consistent patterns of motor recruitment dysfunction are evident. These recruitment patterns present as motor control inhibition of muscle function and imbalance between stability and mobility roles within the global musculature.
The course outlines impingement and instability mechanisms and details the assessment of local and global motor control dysfunction around the hip joint. The diagnosis of mechanical hip dysfunctions is based on assessment and causing uncontrolled movement. The relationship of these imbalances to buttock pain, lateral pain and thigh pain, ilio-tibial band syndromes, recurrent groin pain and recurrent hamstring insertion pain is discussed. The development of dysfunction specific retraining programmes to regain functional stability of the hip is based on a clinical reasoning framework. This course is orientated to a ‘hands on’ practical application of dysfunction assessment and stability retraining using patient examples where possible.
Key Features
This course addresses:
* what goes wrong with the control of hip movement when people have pain
* how to test for uncontrolled flexion, extension, rotation and translation of the hip
* how prioritize the where to start therapeutic exercise and how to develop progressions
This course will help you to:
* re-evaluate muscle function around the hip
* identify direction - related uncontrolled movement related to symptoms
* identify and retrain abnormal strategies and patterns within the global muscle system
* diagnose instability mechanisms of the hip and assess for motor control dysfunction in the local muscle system
* determine the optimal retraining strategy to restabilize the ‘clicky’ or unstable hip using an evidence based clinical reasoning framework
* design specific individual retraining programmes
Learning Outcomes
At the end of this course the student should be able to:
* Classify muscles roles based on function & dysfunction
* Understand the development of movement and stability dysfunction
* Analyse the inter-relationship between restriction and compensation in articular and myofascial tissues
* Clinically assess hip motor control strategies to identify and diagnose the site and direction of stability dysfunction and retrain direction specific dysfunction
* Assess and rehab local stabiliser function at the hip
* Identify and correct global imbalance in stabiliser - mobiliser function
* Rate the degree of severity of stability dysfunction and discuss prognosis
The participant should demonstrate the ability to apply principles of assessment and motor control retraining to:
* Develop an evidence based management plan to improve functional control
* Use clinical reasoning to prioritise initial management and plan a progression of rehab
* Apply rehabilitation strategies to manage stability dysfunction
* Use re-assessment tools to guide the rate of progression of an individual patient through their rehab programme
Programme Outline
* Brief review of controlled movement theories
* Diagnosis of uncontrolled movement relating to direction specific stress and strainat the hip
* Assessment and retraining of global muscle imbalance at the hip
* Restrictions due to over-dominant mobilisers
* Uncontrolled movement due to inefficient stabilisers
* Mechanisms & Tests for impingement and instability
* Assessment and rehab of local muscle control of the hip translation
* Diagnosis and rehab of specific movement dysfunctions

Coaching is a powerful approach to working with individuals and groups. It enables people to work towards what they want rather than what they don’t want. It is being fast recognised as the “missing link” in helping people to change health beliefs, raise self efficacy and develop sustainable plans. This day is aimed at independent practitioners who want to explore coaching and consider using it as part of their professional “tool kit”. It aims to provide some practical tools, hands-on practice and personal experience of coaching. It will show how coaching not only benefits our clients, but also supports our own personal and business development. |

This course offers the minimum level of first aid certification recommended by the Health and
Safety Executive, reflecting recent legislative changes. It is essential not only to meet the
statutory Health and Safety obligations of your practice but also for professional registration
and indemnity requirements. It is a common complaint that traditional first aid training does
not address the needs of the Healthcare Professional: in this course, delegates are
encouraged to re-evaluate their emergent skills and knowledge and discuss their own
experiences and concerns amongst their peers, based on actual scenarios and case studies.
Delegates receive training in a range of first aid subjects, including:
Legalities of First Aid
The Primary Survey
Basic Life Support
Early recognition of Acute Coronary Syndromes
Management of the unconscious casualty
Management of trauma, medical and environmental scenarios
On completion of the course delegates receive the nationally- recognised 'Emergency First Aid' certificate, valid for 3 years. |

Balance and alignment for the active or athletic client
Remediation of acute or chronic injuries
Treatment for structural concerns
CORE Myofascial Therapy was used as the premier treatment for the British Olympic Team at their 1995 and 1996 Olympic Training Camps held at Florida State University. CORE Bodywork is also the only deep muscle therapy in use by the massage therapy staff at the elite Peaks Resort and Spa in Telluride, Colorado. Active professionals, elite athlete, and anyone wishing to achieve a higher level of mental and physical performance will benefit from CORE Myofascial Therapy.
Techniques and Skills you will learn and be able to apply to your practice immediately:
Myofascial Spreading- the foundation technique for full-body treatment
Back Specific- a comprehensive routine for deep musculature of Para-spinal, shoulder, and hip regions.
CORE Release- intrinsic techniques for balancing the pelvic structures
Arthrokinetics- arm and leg joint techniques that reduce ligament tension and holding
End Work- a series of techniques that stimulate the parasympathetic response at the close of a session
Neurosomatic Awareness Exercises
How to combine both passive and active movements into your session for greater results
Specific techniques to address and theories of common structural and functional client issues.
Ultimately how to eliminate pain, restore movement & limited function, and get long term results.
Practitioner manuals will be provided outlining pertinent course information, including all clinical techniques and treatment strategies. Massage therapists, physical therapists, and athletic trainers are eligible for admission to this program. |

This is a multidisciplinary study adventure conducted over 7 days while cruising the Galapagos Islands on a small luxury vessel. During the cruise world renowned keynote speakers, Diane Lee and Linda-Joy (LJ) Lee will cover 10 hours of theory, leaving ample time to snorkel and walk amongst the spectacular wildlife and scenery of this unique part of the planet. Following the cruise a further 4 days will be spent in the UNESCO World Heritage city of Quito, when Diane and LJ will cover assessment and treatment techniques in 10 hours of practical.
We aim to gather a group of professionals interested in the role of the pelvis in recurrent groin and hamstring pain. The lectures will contain the latest scientific and clinical evidence pertaining to this topic and the practical workshop will cover the tests developed to determine when the pelvis is failing to transfer loads to the lower extremity. A focus will be differential diagnosis and how to determine when dysfunction in the pelvis, painful or not, is a key driver in hamstring and groin problems. We will ensure that you have all the clinical expertise necessary to take these tests and specific training protocols into your clinical practice. We are aiming to create a unique environment for discussion, exchange of ideas and networking as we learn from each other. We intend to make this an interactive, exciting and informative time for collaboration and reflection.
